Nishimura & Asahi strengthens Asian presence with strategic alliance in Malaysia

Leading Japanese law firm Nishimura & Asahi is pleased to announce that our office in Singapore, Nishimura & Asahi (Singapore) LLP, has entered into a strategic alliance with a Malaysian firm, WM Leong & Co to further strengthening our presence in Asia.

WM Leong & Co is an independent local law firm providing Malaysian legal services. It is led by Wan May Leong, who has extensive knowledge and experience in Malaysian law.

Further to the alliance, our Partner Daisuke Maeshiro, who has handled multiple cross-border Malaysian deals, together with other lawyers based in our Singapore office, will work closely with WM Leong & Co as an integrated team to assist our clients with their expansion of business.

This alliance allows access to a wide range of legal services, including M&A, general corporate, labor law, dispute resolution and crisis management in Malaysia, where a high market growth is anticipated. With this expanded capability, we will work in close collaboration with our Singapore office and WM Leong & Co, together with our wide network of offices throughout Asia and beyond, while also continuing to work with external local firms in Malaysia.

Wan May Leong
Managing Partner of WM Leong & Co
Wan May Leong is an advocate and solicitor admitted to the High Court of Malaya who specializes in M&A and corporate commercial matters. She previously worked at a leading Malaysian law firm, before joining our Singapore office in 2018. She has extensive experience in handling Malaysian deals for Japanese and multinational companies conducted in multiple languages, including English, Chinese and Malay. She is also a partner at Nishimura & Asahi (Singapore) LLP.

Daisuke Maeshiro

Daisuke Maeshiro has worked at our Singapore office since 2014, where he has led numerous Malaysian projects relating to M&A and general corporate legal affairs. He also has wide experience advising on projects across Southeast Asia, including in Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines, and is able to provide expert legal advice from a broad commercial and practical perspective.
